A single breath, an infinite silence.

Shades of ink spread across the white Japanese paper.
It is a faithful reproduction of the pure air that flows through the sub-temple of Myoshinji Temple and the momentary breathing of the monk as he confronts the material.

In the midst of busy days, I suddenly notice a sumi-e painting hanging on the wall.
As I gaze upon the powerful yet delicate smudges and blurs of the ink, the noise of my thoughts suddenly disappears and I feel as if I am returning to my present self.

Traditional mounting for modern spaces.

Each piece is meticulously framed by skilled artisans with Kyoto's finest fabric.
Whether in a living room or study, these frames blend seamlessly into modern living spaces, transforming them into serene “Zen-like” environments.

[Zen Wisdom from a Monk]

In this ink painting, The poem is accompanied by the words, "悠然見南山." Through this work, Mr. Yokoe of Yotokuin Temple would like to share with you the wisdom for living in the present.

"悠然見南山"

He dislikes poems that use flowery language to unnecessarily praise things or people, but he finds poems that describe simple things or the beauty of nature wonderful and in line with the teachings of Zen, so we often quote these phrases as Zen words.
"If your mind is distant, the earth itself becomes unbalanced." Even if you are in a populated area, if you have no attachments there will be no hustle and bustle.

This is a sobering statement. We believe that our surroundings influence our lives.
People who come to the temple for zazen often say with joy, "I was able to sit in peace and tranquility in such an environment."
However, I always reply with something that no one is happy about: "You can practice zazen anywhere you have a place to sit."
It's all about your attitude. I'm always keenly aware of my own immaturity in thinking that I can't sit here unless I'm here.
I would like to become a Zen monk who can help people realize the state of mind described in this poem.
While picking flowers in the garden, I suddenly notice a mountain and feel a sense of nature, which can be a major realization.
