"Keishunin Temple's Four Seasons" Bamboo diffuser from a famous temple
1. The tranquility of a famous temple is conveyed through a single fragrance
Keishunin, a temple of the Rinzai sect of Myoshinji in Kyoto.
The bamboo trees that grow lushly within the temple grounds and sway gently in the breeze have protected the tranquility of the temple for generations.
This time, ZenSei presents a reed diffuser made from bamboo from Keishunin Temple, allowing you to enjoy Kyoto's four seasons with all five senses.
Bring the "rich tranquility" of standing on the veranda of a famous temple into your own home, even while living in the city.
2. A new "breath" of bamboo woven by 11 generations
This delicate design is brought to life by Hiroaki Nakagawa, the 11th generation head of Takemata Nakagawa Bamboo Shop, which was founded in 1688 and has been part of Kyoto's history ever since.
While inheriting the aesthetics of bamboo that underpinned the sukiya architecture and tea ceremony culture beloved by Sen no Rikyu, Nakagawa is elevating its possibilities into contemporary expression.
"Bamboo is a material that allows a space to 'breathe,'" he says.
We have pursued a unique structure that is completed entirely using bamboo, using as little adhesive as possible, and have created a neat appearance that makes use of the bamboo's natural flexibility and strength.
It is the moment when the Kyoto sensibility, honed over many years, blends into your everyday life.
3. Enjoy the scenery of the four seasons: four variations
We have prepared four designs and fragrances based on the theme of the changing seasons at Keishunin Temple.
-
Craftsmanship: The blooming cherry blossom petals are expressed using multiple layers of bamboo craftsmanship.
-
Scent: A gentle, gorgeous cherry blossom scent that heralds the arrival of spring.
[ Summer: Pine ]
-
Craftsmanship: Intricate lines based on the dignified and timeless motif of pine leaves.
-
Scent: A clear, Zen scent that evokes deep serenity and spirituality.
[ Autumn: Bamboo ]
-
Craftsmanship: A clean, linear design that highlights the beauty of the material itself.
-
Scent: A fresh and refreshing scent, like standing in a bamboo forest after the rain.
-
Craftsmanship: The temple crest of Keishunin, the "facing cranes," is reproduced using traditional techniques.
-
Aroma: A mellow and calming yuzu scent that evokes the warmth of Japanese winter.
We hope you enjoy the fragrance while imagining the seasonal scenery and scenes of Keishunin Temple.
4. Bringing nature's breath to urban peace
Nakagawa's handiwork, which brings out the beauty in each and every section, is also a ritual of releasing the "life" of the bamboo and sending it into modern homes.
Admire the changing appearance of bamboo throughout the seasons and be enveloped in its soft fragrance.
We hope that ZenSei's bamboo diffuser will bring you a sense of relief and vitality in your busy days.
