Takemata Nakagawa Bamboo Store, 11th generation head of the family, Nakagawa Hiroaki

A new "silence" of bamboo spun by 11 generations.
Founded in 1688.
Nakagawa Hiroaki is the 11th generation head of Takemata Nakagawa Bamboo Store, a company that has grown alongside the history of Kyoto.
While inheriting the aesthetics of bamboo that underpinned the sukiya architecture and tea ceremony culture beloved by Sen no Rikyu, we are elevating its possibilities to modern expression.
"Bamboo is a material that allows space to 'breathe'."
The tools that Nakagawa creates are attractive for their elegant appearance, making use of the inherent flexibility and strength of bamboo.
The reed diffuser we are delivering this time is also a unique design that is completed entirely using bamboo, and embodies a form in which traditional techniques blend into modern lifestyles.
"Bringing the breath of nature to the comfort of urban living"
Nakagawa's handiwork cherishes the changing appearance of bamboo throughout the seasons and brings out the beauty that resides in each and every section.
Picking up this tool means welcoming the Kyoto sensibility, which has been refined over a long period of time, into your daily life.
